A race clinic will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Campbell Park starting at 8am. We’ll cover paddling, canoes will be available, race strategy, hydration and nutrition for the race and answer all your questions.
The clinic is free.
If you need a team mate, post a message in this section and let everyone know what you want and I’m sure a team mate will answer.
If you have any questions post a message or contact Jim at jimwes55@yahoo.com.

This event is a 8.5 mile downstream race. The Rock Springs River is a Wild and Scenic River that will provide a challenge to even the most experienced paddlers. Racers will drwa for starting positions and leave Kings on one-minute intervals. Following the race, a shuttle will transport paddlers and their boats back to the start for lunch and the awards presentation.

We got the maps at 4 PM for a 5 PM start. It looked like some challenging navigation with a lot of transition – but nice that we did not have any huge distances in any discipline without a change. We started with a roughly 6 mile bike to a TA on the river where we did a short (less than 1 mile run). Our route choice forced us to swim a pretty nasty canal – but at least it cooled us off – as well as covered us in slime and mud.
Adventure racing is often a mind wrenching mixture of suffering and awe. The Nocturnal Challenge did not fail to deliver.
Mark Miller was bled dry to provide some incredible images of the race. He has them posted up at http://teamracephotos.com. Mark is truly the premier photographer for AR in Florida. Remember to donate on his site if you enjoy his images.
A huge thanks to all the volunteers with Pangea. There is no sport without them.
Pangea is putting together all the finishing times. Keep an eye on their website for results.
Follow Ron Eaglin and Team Blue vicariously through the Primal Quest.
As part of the primal quest race - Go Pro gave us cameras to wear and record our race. Of course we did not have them on all the time - but they got some good video. Our video is at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkELSRRRgy8
It is worth the watch AND you can help our team - the team with the most number of views wins cash - so go watch us ! Of course I’ve watched ours and lots of other teams. If you ever think of doing PQ - watch these. They did catch many of the teams “scary” moments. If you watch our video;
- One rapid on river boards
- Some boring biking
- Some FUN biking (meaning fast)
- Climbing - and I did look down (I was wearing the camera then)
- One shot looking down on the Glacial lake from the pass in the Crazy Mountains at sunrise.
